Board Members of Akfen Renewable Energy
Born in İstanbul on 1954, Hamdi Akın graduated from Gazi University, Department of Mechanical Engineering. He founded Akfen Holding, active in construction, tourism, trade and service sectors, in 1976. In addition to serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Akfen Holding, he also assumed the position of the Chairman of TAV Airports Holding, of which he is a founder and a shareholder, in 2005. Engaged with infrastructure, energy and investment projects under the scope of privatization as well as private entrepreneurship, Mr. Akın also reflected his dynamism and hard work in business to volunteer efforts and non-governmental organizations as a manager and founder of many societies, foundations, chambers of commerce. Mr. Akın has served as Vice President of Fenerbahçe Sports Club between 2000-2002, MESS-Metal Industrialists’ Union President of Ankara Regional Representatives Council between 1992-2004, as the President of TÜGİAD-Turkish Young Businessmen’s Association between 1998-2000, as the member of the Board of Directors at TİSK-Turkish Confederation of Employers’ Associations between 1995-2001, the Board of Directors of TÜSİAD-Turkish Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association and has also served as the President of Information Society and New Technologies Commission between 2008-2009. Mr. Akın has been serving as a Board Member of Clean Seas Association/TURMEPA since 2011.
As one of the founders of the Contemporary Turkey Studies Chair at the London School of Economics, Hamdi Akın is also the Founding Member and Honorary President of the Turkey Human Resources Foundation (TİKAV), founded in 1999 in order to provide Turkey with well-trained human resources, and the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Abdullah Gül University Support Foundation.
İrfan Erciyas, graduated from Economics and Finance department of Gazi University in 1977, started to work in Türkiye Vakıflar Bankası. After serving as Inspector and Branch manager in Türkiye Vakıflar Bankası, he assumed the position of Deputy General Manager between 1996 and 2002 and the position of General Manager between 2002 and 2003. Erciyas, who joined Akfen Holding in 2003 as Deputy Chairman, worked mainly on privatization of Vehicle Inspection Stations, Mersin International Port and IDO, and undertook important positions for foundation and investment processes of Akfen REIT and Akfen Energy, public offering of Akfen Holding and Akfen REIT, share sales of the affiliates, and long term financing. İrfan Erciyas has been working in Akfen Holding as Executive Board Member since March 2010 and he is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Deputy Chairman and Member of Board of Directors of several subsidiaries and affiliates of Akfen Holding.
İbrahim Süha Güçsav
Mr. Güçsav graduated from Economics department of Istanbul University in 1992 and had his master’s degree in Business Administration department of Social Sciences Institute of Gazi University. Mr. Güçsav started his career in 1992 in Alexander & Alexander Sigorta Brokerliği A.Ş., then joined Akfen in 1994 and worked as Financing Group President and Chief Executive Officer. He undertook important roles in the privatization of Vehicle Inspection Stations, Mersin International Port and IDO, foundation and investment processes of Akfen REIT and Akfen Energy, public offering of Akfen Holding and Akfen REIT, sales of shares of the affiliates, and long term financing.
Mr. Güçsav who is Chairman of the Turkish – Singapore Business Council of FERB, worked as Deputy Chairman of Akfen Holding Board of Directors from 2003 till 2010. Mr. Güçsav, who worked as a member of the Board of Directors both in Akfen Holding between the years of 2010 – 2012 and TAV Havalimanları Holding A.Ş. between the years of 2000 – 2012, has been working as CEO of Akfen Holding since March, 2010. In addition to this position, he is also the Chairman of Akfen REIT and Akfen Water, member of the Board of Directors of the affiliates such as Mersin Uluslararası Liman İşletmeciliği A.Ş. and Akfenhes Investments and Energy Production Inc.
Süha Güçsav, CEO of Akfen Holding, has been appointed as the Honorary Business Representative of the International Commerce and Investment Agency (IE Singapore) that operates under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Singapore as of October 2014.
Selim Akın, graduated from Surrey University, Business Administration Department in the United Kingdom, served as Surrey University Turkish Association President in 2005-2006 and after coming back to Turkey he has become a member of the Turkish Young Businessmen’s Association. Mr. Akın is a member of TÜSİAD and Turkish Tourism Investors Association (TYD). Also he is Vice Chairman of Young Businessmen Association of Turkey (TÜGİAD) and DEİK. Mr. Akın started his professional career in the Akfen Holding Accounting Department and later served in the Project Development and Finance Departments.
The main projects in which he participated are the privatization and financing of Vehicle Inspection Stations, the privatization and financing of Mersin Port and Akfen Holding’s public offering and bond issue. Besides his Chairman of the Board of Directors role at Akfen İnşaat ve Turizm A.Ş., Mr. Akın also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at Akfen Holding and its various subsidiaries.
Nandita Parshad is the Director and Global Head of the Power & Energy Utilities Team at EBRD. She has over 25 years of experience in financing and investing in the power sector in diverse emerging economies. Since joining EBRD in 1992, Nandita has led several complex power project financings involving debt, equity or syndications. Prior to working at the EBRD, Nandita worked for World Bank in Washington DC. Nandita holds both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Princeton University.
Nabil Moukarbel is currently a Chief Investment Officer in the Infrastructure and Natural Resources department at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. He is leading appraisal, structuring, syndication and negotiation of financing documentation for several projects in various emerging markets. He joined IFC in 1993. Nabil holds a Master of Engineering degree from Texas A&M University and an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Independent Board Member
Graham Wood has an international career in the Electricity and Gas sectors in UK, USA, Europe, and Asia culminating in senior financial roles in the largest power company in Europe. Prior to becoming a board member for Akfen, he held similar positions in companies such as Freenergy and ENEA. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from University of Reading.
